Give Where You Live:

Service Tony Carletello November 5, 2025

November is Hunger Awareness Month, an important time to pause, give thanks, and remember that many families in Middle Tennessee are facing food insecurity, even as we head into the holiday season.

One of the most meaningful things about calling Nashville home is the way our community steps up for one another. Serving our neighbors isn’t just something we do here, it’s part of who we are. And this month, there are countless ways to make a difference.

Below are trusted local organizations working every day to feed families, support children, and serve our community along with simple ways you can get involved.

Local Organizations Making an Impact

Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee: One of the largest and most impactful hunger-relief organizations in the region.
How to support:

  • Volunteer to pack or distribute food
  • Host a food drive
  • Donate to fund meals

St. Luke’s Community House: A longstanding Nashville nonprofit offering food programs, senior support, and early-learning resources.
How to support:

  • Serve in The Pantry or Mobile Meals programs
  • Donate pantry items or hygiene supplies
  • Sponsor holiday meals for seniors

The Store: Founded by Brad Paisley & Kimberly Williams‑Paisley, this free grocery model provides no-cost access to fresh food in a dignified way.
How to support:

  • Volunteer to welcome families and assist in-store
  • Donate pantry items
  • Give online or join their monthly donor community

Room In The Inn: Serving individuals experiencing homelessness with meals, shelter and support services.
How to support:

  • Provide meals, supplies, or cold-weather items
  • Volunteer at a shelter night
  • Donate funds or goods

More Ways to Give Back: Even small acts make a big difference

  • Drop off canned goods or grocery gift cards
  • Create “blessing bags” (snacks, warm socks, hygiene items)
  • Involve kids — great for teaching gratitude and kindness
  • Choose a charity instead of a holiday gift exchange
  • Spread the word to neighbors and friends

Service creates connection and connection is what community is all about.
