As a Nashville native, one of the things I’ve always loved most about Middle Tennessee is that no matter how long you’ve lived here, there’s always something new to discover.

While many visitors focus on Broadway and the tourist attractions, locals know some of the area’s best experiences can be found just a little off the beaten path. Whether you’re looking for a weekend adventure, a great meal, a scenic walk, or a place to unwind, here are a few local favorites worth checking out this summer.

1. Radnor Lake State Park

If you need a break from the pace of everyday life, Radnor Lake is hard to beat.

With miles of scenic trails, abundant wildlife, and peaceful lake views, it’s one of the most beautiful natural areas in Middle Tennessee.

2. Gammon’s Market

3. Cheekwood Estate & Gardens

Summer is one of the most beautiful times to visit Cheekwood.

The gardens are in full bloom, the grounds are stunning, and there always seems to be something new to see.

4. The Factory at Franklin

The Factory has transformed into one of the area’s most unique destinations.

You’ll find restaurants, shops, live events, coffee, and plenty of opportunities to spend an afternoon exploring.

It’s a great reminder of how thoughtful redevelopment can breathe new life into historic spaces.

5. Downtown Franklin

If you haven’t spent an evening walking Main Street lately, you’re missing out.

Local boutiques, restaurants, coffee shops, and historic architecture make it one of the most charming downtown districts in Tennessee.

6. Long Hunter State Park

For those who enjoy being on the water or spending time outdoors, Long Hunter State Park offers beautiful trails and access to Percy Priest Lake.

It’s one of my favorite places to enjoy nature without having to travel far from Nashville.

8. Arrington Vineyards

I couldn’t write a list of favorite places without mentioning one of my newest passions.
